Devi Jagadambi Temple of Love Khajuraho Madhya Pradesh

Devi Jagadambi Temple also known as Jagadambika Temple , built by the Chandela rulers between 1000 AD to 1025. AD  originally it was dedicated to Lord Vishnu as the East facing door, the prominence given to the Lord Vishnu on the doorway to the sanctum.

Few believe it a Parvati Temple and that Ma Kali image  ( Jagadamba) is actually an image of Parvati, painted black . The temple is on the same platform  the Kandariya  Mahadev but  small in height . The Garbhagriha is having a huge image of the Goddess (Devi) of the Universe (Jagdambi),

It has  only one set of balconies, only one Mandap and no inner Pradakshina , It has some of the beautiful images in sculptures  . Apart from the normal female figures applying make-up and preening themselves, there are a number of lovers embracing and assigned to honor love and conjugal harmony, with figures of the divine couples and others depicting every mood of love , a mischievous woman tugging at lover’s beard .

A woman with her beautiful back turned to the onlooker she is preoccupied in gazing at her beauty in the mirror, her scarf falling over her  shoulder most provocatively.  Images of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva and Lord  Brahma embracing their consorts. The south side has an image of Varaha, depicted with a human body and a Boar head, emerging from the primeval waters carrying the earth Goddess Bhudevi on his arm. She has placed her hand affectionately on his snout as if to pat the Boar and thank him for rescuing her.

Vishwanath Temple of Love Khajuraho Madhya Pradesh

Vishwanath Temple at Khajuraho built by the Chandela King Dhanga Deva  in 999 AD to 1002 AD . It was a panchayatana  shrine however of the four subsidiary shrines only two in the northeast and southwest corners have survived. The structure shows all the elements of a developed temple. The beauty of the temple lies in the depiction of the exquisite figures of women on the rock blocks  walls. The temple depicts more than 600 rock-images

Raised over a platform . This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, has an exquisite marble Shivalinga    (it originally housed an emerald lingam)  as the main deity.  It is  believed that the temple celebrates the celestial marriage of Lord Shiva with Parvati.

An imposing  image of the three-headed Lord Brahma  also is enshrined in this temple. With lions adjoining the northern and elephants the southern steps , human figures are also depicted on both side of elephant  the exterior of temple walls are with Apsaras writing letters, playing music and a lovely one plucking a thorn from her foot, women are seen to caress a baby .

On one of the walls there is a four-armed dancing Lord Ganesh, holding an Axe and broken tusk , in his right hands, and with his left hands holding a laddu (sweet) and extended in a boon-granting gesture. The sculpture of Lord Shiva ( with Trishula on right shoulder  and snake on left shoulder ) can also be seen on outer  wall .

Somnath Temple , Gujarat

The Somnath Temple , Gujarat also mentioned as Deo Pattan, Prabhas Pattan, or Somnath Pattan is situated in Prabhas Kshetra , of Viraval town on the South – West cost of Gujarat state  of India  , is one of the twelve Jotirlings Shrine of Lord Shiva , the location of this temple, Strange but fact , it lies in a straight line to South Pole, in between  there is only water. no land mass other than the Antarctica ice in between .

 The research done by the Vadic Shodh Sanatan Varanasi on ancient Hindu Puranas (classical text) Prabhas Khand of Skandh Puran. The first Jyotirling Pran Pratistha at Somnath Temple was performed on the third day of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month of the 10th Treta Yug of  Vaivaswati Manvantar i.e. over 70 million years ago .

The present temple structure was constructed over the ruins of the old temple, the reconstruction, the pran pratishtha was done on 11 May 1951 by the then President of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad, it was completed and dedicated to the worshipers on 1st December 1995 by the then President of India Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma .

According to legends the first temple was built by Lord Chandra (Moon God) to be relieved from the curse of his father-in-law, Dakasha Prajapati, whose 27 daughter was married to Chandra. Because of curse, Lord Chandra had lost its luster. Then advice from Lord Brahma, Chandra  worship Lord Shiva at this place (Prabhas Tirtha). Pleased with the devotion and (penance) Tapasya Lord blessed him to be partly relieved from the curse , which resulted in fifteen days of reducing shine (Krishna Paksha) and fifteen days for increase in shine ( Shulka Paksha ) In praise , Lord Chandra built a temple in gold. It is said Ravana the king of Lanka and devotee of Lord Shiva built it in silver followed by Lord Krishna built the temple in sandalwood and in the 10th century it was rebuilt in stone by King Bhimdev Solanki.

This temple Somnath (the protector of Moon God) and “The shrine eternal” although the temple has been destroyed six times, it has been rebuilt every time. “The Somnath temple signifies that the power of reconstruction is always greater than the power of destruction”

It is said Lord Brahama installed a Bharama Shila and paved way for the construction of the temple. It is also said the Lord Chandra and the other Deva’s requested Lord Shiva to be known as Somchandra and reside in the form of Jotirlinga here eternally.

There are other significant places as per Hindu mythology to visit are Bhalka Tirath , here Lord Krishna was shot by an arrow in his foot, this place have a temple and a legendary tree under which Lord Krishna was taking rest .

Triveni Ghat where three rivers Hiran , Kapila and legendry Saraswati meets . The temple built by Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar of Indore , The cave dedicated to Lord Krishna’s brother Balram , where he transformed into a snake and went to Patal Lok. A cave and a temple dedicated to  Adi Shankaracharya where he meditated more than thousand years ago .
